About the Optimist Club of Red Deer

Founded in 1960 with 28 charter members, the Optimist Club of Red Deer has remained dedicated to “Bringing Out the Best in Kids.” As a volunteer-driven organization, we strive to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people by fostering opportunities for growth, development, and community support.

Our Impact

Over the years, we have taken part in numerous hands-on projects, including:

  • Building and improving playgrounds to create safe and accessible spaces for children.
  • Supporting Camp Woods through essential repairs and maintenance.
  • Recycling and refurbishing used bicycles to provide affordable transportation for kids in need.

Through our annual fundraising events and generous community contributions, we have raised over $1 million to support local programs and organizations that enrich the lives of Red Deer’s youth. Some of the many groups we have proudly supported include:

Catalina Swim Club
School Mentor Programs
Optimist Chiefs Hockey Team
Red Deer Minor Football
Red Deer Pond Hockey
Red Deer Festival for the Performing Arts
Red Deer Public Schools
Special Olympics Alberta
